2010 ACE Finalist

Dawn Pope featured in R&D Directions

Dawn Pope, Copernicus Group IRB's (CGIRB) Director of client relations and quality management, was featured in a R&D Directions magazine article entitled, "Crackdown puts IRBs on Notice."

Pope weighed in on the state of Institutional Review Board (IRB) and FDA monitoring. "As the research climate evolves, IRBs should reevaluate procedures to keep up with current regulatory and ethical trends," said Pope in the article. "Many of the regulations that govern IRBs are open to interpretation. Strengthening the oversight system would only serve to help IRBs better protect the rights of potential study subjects," added Pope.

The article went on to say that, "Adhering to ISO 9001:2008 standards for quality management is also critical for IRBs." Copernicus Group IRB is the only Institutional Review Board that has attained ISO:9001:2008 certification.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Copernicus Group IRB (CGIRB) announced that it has received ISO 9001:2008 Certification, affirming that the company’s quality management system meets the strict qualifications for the globally accepted ISO standard.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard outlines requirements and provides guidance on good quality management systems for businesses and other organizations. Copernicus Group IRB Chairperson, Glenn Veit, speaks at DIA

Washington, DC - June 14, 2010 - Copernicus Group IRB (CGIRB) Chairperson, Glenn Veit, spoke at the Drug Information Association 46th Annual Meeting. Along with colleagues from Duke University Medical Center and Pfizer, Inc., Mr. Veit presented a session titled “Three Perspectives of the IRB Process in Phase I Studies Conducted in an Academic Setting.” The session focused on how obtaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval to conduct a Phase I clinical trial presents unique challenges for an academic site conducting the study, as well as the pharmaceutical sponsor, and the IRB (more...).
