Finalized on April 18, 1979 by The National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research, this document identifies 3 primary ethical principles: Respect for Persons, Beneficence, and Justice.

    The Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO) provides presentations and testimony on behalf of CROs. An example of this was the statement regarding the adequacy of human subject protection in research presented to the Congressional Subcommittee on Public Health on April 23, 2002. ACRO's founding members were five major CROs: Covance, Kendle, PAREXEL, PPD, and Quintiles.
